GOOGLE DELIVERS ADWORDS TARGETING ON IPHONE, G1

Google has added an option allowing AdWords advertisers to display their desktop text and image ads on the iPhone, the T-Mobile G1, and other mobile devices with HTML "full browsers." Advertisers will be able to target ads on mobile devices, create campaigns for them, and get separate performance reporting. They can also choose to restrict ads only on desktop and laptop computers by opting out. AdWords advertisers can target ads for specific devices by selecting "Networks and Bidding" within "Device Platform," by visiting their campaign settings. A video demonstrating AdWords for iPhone and G1 can be viewed on Youtube. -Smarajit Dasgupta

ADMOB LETS ADVERTISERS TARGET SPECIFIC MOBILE DEVICES

AdMob now allows advertisers to target specific mobile devices through its self-serve ad targeting user interface. Advertisers and application developers will be able to target ads to over 4,500 mobile handsets from over 200 manufacturers, including Android and Windows Mobile devices. While device-specific targeting may reduce traffic for advertisers, AdMob believes it can improve click thru rate. Using the self-serve interface, advertisers can search the names of the specific devices and add them. Advertisers will be able to see the devices in the "Your Targeted Devices" table on the ad creation / edit page. -Smarajit Dasgupta
